Preparing for one more thing can help create more chaos in a mind that is already consumed with creating life. Helping my client prepare before a session, is of utmost importance. The more comfortable a client is, the better the outcome of the images!
And that is what we want. Amazing images that you can look back to remember that special moment, when though the world can see your magic, you had a secret conversation daily, secret movements only you can feel, the flutter that felt like butterflies. And it gave you butterflies from the excitement!
So let’s dive in on how to prepare for your maternity photoshoot, so you can have the best outcome.
1. Plan your outfits ahead of time
2. Get the mani and pedi
Trust me, one thing mamas will notice in almost every picture while holding their belly, is their nails! You want to feel secure that your hands and feet are pampered and holding your favorite colors. For sessions, I do encourage a neutral palette so it can match whatever outfits we are going for.
3. Don’t get tanned too close to your session
I know…we want to tan, we want the beach or outdoor activities. But tan lines, peeling skin in your photo session? It’s not fun. You feel that your make up doesn’t match your skin or your personality, the shedding dead skin is everywhere. It’s funny but not fun. We want the outcome of your session to be smooth. The winning combo is, tanning at the beach while having your photo session!
4. Pack for your session
Yes, the night before, pack early. Pack the clothes you want to bring in, any heirlooms you want to incorporate, etc. If your session includes your partner, make sure their things are packed too. You want to pack any of your favorite snacks for after your session. You may be hungry after being a goddess!
5. The night before and day of…
Plan for the night before to have an amazing night sleep. Relax and go to bed early. My clients are at their best when well rested. The morning of, make sure you have a hearty breakfast, something to keep you full to be able to get through the session. Sometimes being super hangry during a session, does delay it a bit. I do break for snacks though, if necessary!
I hope these small tips can help you feel almost ready and excited for your next session! We are going to have a lot of fun!
