There are so many options to consider when you are going in for a maternity photoshoot. No fear, we are going to tackle this together, the way I tackle it with my clients.

For photoshoots with me, we have a consultation prior to your session and you receive a guide, so that you can be and feel fully prepared for your session.

The more prepared you feel, the less jitters you feel, the more comfortable you feel, and we can have an amazing session.

1. The body suit

One of my favorite go to items is the black bodysuit. There is something about it’s shape that helps create that perfect bump picture. There are different styles of body suits. I tend to use most a long sleeve, almost turtle neck, black bodysuit. There are always more options of course. Depending on your type of session, we can taylor which ones we can experiment with.

2. The off-the shoulder boho dress

This is another favorite of mine. There is something so soft and feminine about an off the shoulder dress. Some have an adjustable band that falls right above the belly, and some are spandex like material that will help create that shape we all love to see in any maternity bump session.

3. The fabric drapes

This has started to become a new top favorite of mine. There is a lot we can do with this. We can create unique styles by adding accessories to bring it all in. It can add a certain flowy feel, and a soft feminine look. And the best part? We can add enough flow to make it look like a flying dress!

4. Denim

Hear me out. There is a lot of wiggle room here! It can be a casual look. You can wear jeans you feel so comfy in, and wear a denim jacket, or wear a floral top, or wear a crop top with puffy sleeves, off the shoulder shirt, or even just plain flowers that cover your top! The sky is the limit if you are looking for a casual look.

5. Gowns, or other dresses

There are some dresses that we can help create the look we are looking for. If there is one that you absolutely would love to bring in, bring on over!

6. Oversized cotton white shirt

This one can be both sexy and fun. I’ve used this style mostly on the beach just for the feel. Some women feel a bit self-aware about their body, and this style has helped them overcome how they feel about their bodies in that moment, and opening up to a great maternity photoshoot.

7. Birthday suit

Yup. Now, it doesn’t mean full nudity with me, before we freak out. Skin tone underwear like thongs, and covering your top with your arms and hands or even a fabric drape, can create that glow that focuses solely on your bump. Many women do love this look because they feel like an ethereal goddess.

Most of these looks can be combined if you are having a solo session or with your partner! Being pregnant is already a huge task. Let’s make some magic together!
